WHO WE ARE

AB Global is a transnational organization, founded in 2023, supporting educators, youth-serving professionals, and families in their work and relationships with young people.  AB stands for Abantu Bahle, which means ‘people are beautiful’ in isiXhosa (one of the 11 national languages of South Africa).  AB Global was founded by Dr. Rachael Gibson (Dr. G) with the belief that all people have a right to education, wellness, and joy.

Since 2000, Dr. G has been building a global community with her passion for Health and Sexuality Education, leading with strength-based and growth mindsets. Research shows that training, professional development, individualized support, and access to equitable resources frames the knowledge, attitudes, skills, and self-efficacy when teaching and talking about health and sexuality.

Offering rigorous, high-quality training and professional development, and sharing access to a variety of resources, AB Global empowers adults to serve youth in their communities with evidence-informed strategies, principles of inclusivity and justice, and a framework for youth development.

WHAT WE DO

Mission & Vision

Mission:

The mission of AB Global is to empower educators in their health and sex ed practice through knowledge, activism, and building pedagogical skill.  We support teachers, and other youth-serving adults, to help young people globally in making empowered, liberated, and informed choices about their health and wellness. We believe in collaboration that is cross-cultural, transnational, and intersectional in order to move forward in the field and to increase health outcomes for youth globally.  By enhancing the professional development of teachers and supporting a collaborative international framework, we believe that young people will be able to access health and sex education that meets their individual and community needs.

Vision:

AB Global envisions a world where adults support young people in ways that are affirming, strength-based, and evidence-informed in order to enhance relationships, increase personal growth, and honor community.  By building a collaborative, transnational framework of partnerships, we aim to strengthen global citizenship and community by fostering learning and sharing through change.

Our flagship program is a transnational teacher training exchange program (TTTEP) between health and sexuality teachers in the US and life orientation teachers in South Africa.  This collaborative program supports educators in their implementation of comprehensive, inclusive, affirming, and culturally relevant, responsive, and sustaining health and sex education.

Our Team.
